Unboxing a Vintage GI Joe Collection: Rare Finds and Collector Tips

Hello, collectors! Family Legacy Estate Sale is back with another exciting video on collectibles. Today, we have something special—a GI Joe collection. We’re going to open it up cold turkey and explore the treasures inside.

The First Box: A Mix of Nostalgia

Opening the Knockoff Case from 1984

Our journey begins with a knockoff case from 1984 that appears to be a superhero case but is filled with GI Joe figures. Let’s take a closer look:

  • Tiger Force Dusty: Unfortunately, this figure has a broken crotch tip.
  • Unknown Character: This figure from the early 90s is in good shape, but I’m not sure which character it is.
  • Big Bear and Gung-Ho: Both figures are in pretty good condition.

This box also contains a couple of Lonard “The Corps” figures, which are worth less than the GI Joes. Not many accessories are included, but let’s see what else we have.

Second Tray: More Surprises

In the second tray of the first box:

  • Jinx: In good shape.
  • Unidentified Figure from 1985: Needs a bit of research to identify.

A nice little selection to start with, but let’s move on to the next box.

The Second Box: Genuine GI Joe Collector Case

Exploring the 1984 GI Joe Collector Case

This box is an actual GI Joe collector case from 1984. Inside, we find:

  • Star Wars Figures: A surprising inclusion, but in good shape.
  • Cobra Commander: This figure often has a broken crotch tip, and this one is no exception.
  • Torpedo: In good condition with minimal paint wear.

Moving to the second tray, we find more figures, including a couple of Lonard figures and another Tiger Force figure. One figure, Guile, is part of the translucent Shadow series.

The Third Box: Mixed Bag of Figures

Opening Another Knockoff Case

This box contains another knockoff case filled with:

  • Sergeant Slaughter: In great condition.
  • Stormtrooper: Obviously a Star Wars figure.
  • Mixed Bag of GI Joe and Lonard Figures: Including Chuckles, who is in good shape.

This box also includes a figure with a broken crotch tip and a variety of figures from different eras.

The Fourth Box: Treasure Trove of Figures and Accessories

Digging Through the Final Box

The lid is missing from this case, but it’s filled with figures and parts:

  • Worms and Duke: Both figures seem complete with all pieces.
  • Serpentor and Other Characters: Including another Cobra Commander and a melted-faced figure.

This box has a variety of figures, many individually bagged, indicating they are complete. There’s also a mix of accessories, though not a lot.

Conclusion

This unboxing has revealed a fantastic mix of vintage GI Joe figures, Star Wars characters, and some lesser-known brands. While some figures need a bit of repair or identification, many are in great shape and ready for new homes.
