Certificates of authenticity become important if you want proof that a collectible is authentic. Certificates have a good place in the hobby. However, you have to be careful because they can easily be forged by unethical sellers. If you are considering the purchase of an item that you feel should have a certificate, make sure it’s from a well recognized authentication organization like PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), GAI (Global Authentics), etc. This way you can feel comfortable that the items you are buying are authentic.
